Hi. I just read your story and my heart goes out to you. I am 25 and have avn of the right hip and recently had a bone graft procedure. If you are not in an advanced stage of avn this procedure could work. I am 7 weeks post op and doing very well. This prodecure is called the trap door and Dr. Michael Mont at Johns Hopkins/Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore performs it. He essentially opens up your femur, takes out the dead bone and fills it with bone from a bone bank. The theory is that over time the bones will "solidify" and your hip will be restored. Its works for 80% of his patients. I hope I am one of them. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Good Luck.
