I am a 33yr old female with a congenital defect in my left hip. 4 years ago I had a steel pelvic osteotomy with a femeral rotation, which bought me some time on my natural joint, however I am now faced with a THR in Feb '00. I have heard of a Ceramic/Ceramic hip joint, commonly used in Germany, but I am having a difficult time locating information on this procedure her in the States. I understand the wear potential for this type of joint is 30 years. Does anyone out there have any information? I would appreciate anything I can get. my orthopedist explained that this is really not an option for me as it is still in "study" here in the United States!
