sorry about your dad. After first revision of my hip, I had dislocations 5 different times. Within two years they did another revision. This time they rotated the plane of the cup more toward the horizontal (it was too much to the vertical). That is, the plane formed by the end of the edge of the cup was between 60 and 90 degrees relative to the horizontal. It was rotated to 45 degrees. Moreover, I was in a brace that prevented any movement of the hip for five weeks. I removed the brace only for showers and BM's. This increased the scar tissue around the socket and helped hold things in the socket. The bad news is that once the dislocations start, unless you're really careful, they continue. No fun.
