Both hips destroyed by Gout. I had my right hip replaced July 1997 and my left hip replaced Nov. 1997 with non-cemented metal hip. No problems with left hip. Right hip has caused problems since second week after surgery. Have had numerous surgeries on this hip. Dec. 7, 1999 hip was removed becaused of an unindentified infection. I'm told that it will be a year before another hip can be put in. I have cement embedded with antibiotics filling the cavity. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with any experience with an unidentified infection following THP. Or anyone having a second hip replaced after an infection?
