Hi- I had my first total hip replacement 2/10/00...I am 28 yrs old. My pain prior to surdery was about a 9. For the first week after surgery, the pain was about a 3 (you will be on morphine and/or other pain meds). After being released from the hospital (6 days), my pain averaged between 3-5... my surgeon told me that it is typical to have more pain at home. At week three, my pain was 2-3. At 4 weeks after surgery, I noticed a major improvement and only minor tenderness in the incision and underlying muscles. It is exactly 5 weeks today since my surgery...I feel great! In one more week, I will be able to walk full weight on my leg. And then at week 8, I will start the process again and have my left hip replaced...
