I found out in January that I needed a hip replacement. The doctor gave me a book to look through and I had to go to the hospital for 2 classes. But until that happened, I was absolutely paralyzed with fear -(looking at the picture hip replacement seemed like "leg amputation") and in depression.

One day I got into a search engine and listed "hip replacement" - and found Linda's support group and newsletters. I icq'd some of the people on the support list and they were so nice and answered all my questions. And I started getting the newsletters - and everyone seemed to have much worse problems than I did.

I had my surgery on Feb. 24 - and I went home on Feb. 28th. The doctor had told me I could drive in two weeks - but I never believed anything he told me - I couldn't believe how I would improve to that stage in such a short time. However - I had an appointment with my doctor on March 13th - and he lifted all restrictions and put me back on the cane and off the walker. I have been off the pain meds since about the 16th - and just using Tylenol Extra Strength for Arthritis now. I have started getting out a bit - to the store - to my old office (I am retired) - and it is marvelous to be on my own again. I am still healing - some days are harder than others - but they are all mostly good days.

Thank you Linda for your support group and your newsletters.

Mary
