My 6 year old son had hip reconstruction surgery, of both hips on 10/26/99. In January they found out they he had a small staph infection in one of his legs, that's why the one side did not heal. The blood tests, never showed a staph infection. It wasn't until they did a bone biopsy and removed the plate on 2/2/00 that they found the infection in the bone. He did 30 days of IV antibiotics. Then he had another bone biopsy on 3/24/00 and it showed no infection. So, on 4/2/00 they did another bone biopsy and put the metal plate back. There's no sign of an infection. But his bone is still smooshy. Has anyone else had this problem? If you want to email me at rehabva@bellatlantic.net, that would be great too. Thanks.
