I just had a revision- my hip lasted 13 years of hiking, biking, dancing and horseback riding. But when it was "worn out" (actually the cup came loose) it was really obvious, because I could hardly walk. I had some increasing pain and problems for probably a year leading up to it, but it was the last 4 months or so that were really bad. I ended up on crutches before the surgery. My revision was on Mar. 1. I only had the ball and cup (plus some bone grafting) re-done. The doctor felt that the stem was just fine. The surgery was still pretty much like the original surgery. Went back to work after 6 weeks off. Does that help?
