Hi Sharon,

I was 44 when I had my right hip replaced. After dealing with back pain and leg pain for almost five years, never hip pain, I have to say that having the surgery is well worth it. It is not that bad. I had an IV push for the pain that I could control myself by pushing a button. The first couple of days were the hardest, primarily because you can't move very well. I have a hard time laying on my back for very long, so that was tough. I hated to have to call the nurses to help me roll on my side, but I did. After you get up and start moving around you feel so much better. It was and is wonderful to be pain free. I feel like I had been given a new lease on life! Good luck :)
