Familiar? I think you have nicked my experience! Had both replaced Sept 1999. If you wait and keep off the hips you may get away without THR, I tried but got too bored. I waited 18 mths and am now fairly active but regret putting up with pain for too long (was petrified of op!). In the end I had an epidural with gas and woke up within 1/2 hour feeling great and was walking within 24 hours. Best of luck whatever you choose.
