your doc's suggestion of a core decompression seems to have calmed you a bit. that's good. stress only makes the pain worse. and i understand the pain you're in as the same thing happened to me. i was diagnosed with avn when i was 20 (i'm 25 now) and had a core decompression on the worst of my hips. when that didn't work, i decided to have them both replaced. best decision i've ever made.
i hope everything is going well for you and if you have any questions, let me know as i'm a bit of a veteran now (just had a revision of one of my THR's - my 4th hip surgery).
