One thing that helped me after the surgery was to visualize the replacement parts. If your doc will show you, let you touch, feel and see the parts before the surgery, it helps when you are visualizing the healing process. I had a spinal and during the surgery, I asked to see the old one -- that way I could "say goodbye". To me, the new THR is now a piece of me that is as important as my heart -- I will take good care of it.
