I am a 45 year old male and have had both hips replaced. First one on 11-17-99 and second on 6-7-00. I now look forward to my twice daily walks of up to two miles each. I still have some discomfort in the newest hip but all in all am very pleased with the procedure. The longer you wait the harder it may be to recover quickly. I did not have AVN. My problem was osteoarthritis and there were many days I didn't want to walk across the street. I say go for it.
