Donna, I had bone cysts. I've been told they develop from bone rubbing on bone or if you have a poly/metal THR - it develops to catch the plastic debris resulting from wear & tear on the prosthesis. I believe if they get too large you just won't be able to put any weight on your leg. I found I couldn't, and had to go on crutches before surgeon operated and fixed everything up. Note: X-rays and bone scans did not show the cysts, so I guess it's better to get a CAT Scan or Magnetic IR done. Keep us posted on the outcome. Best wishes, Mavis
