Hi Sharon, So sorry to hear of your many terrible problems. I know how you feel with the pain. I am 2-1/2 post op THR. The pain is gone except for some muscle soreness due to excerise that I had not gotten for 5-7 yrs. Yes, I walked around with this pain that long. Finally in the last 2 yrs I could not even tie my shoe, I knew it was time to have something done. I found the most reputable Dr. and hospital. He specializes in only hip and knee replacement. The pain I had coming into the hospital was worse then leaving. I am now driving, working, cleaning, cooking and socializing. PAIN FREE.The first 6 wks you will have precautions and be sure to follow them exactly. After that it is just a matter of rebuilding muscle and strength. But you will feel so much better. I had my surgery on a Friday morning at 9am and was sitting at the edge of my bed by 5 that same afternoon. The following day I walked along way to PT and back w/walker, Sunday I was released. Two weeks later went back to have my staples out using a cane. Six wks later went back for final check-up and he dismissed me with no precautions .He said I will know what I can and cannot do. He was right. When I get tired I know it because I start to limp more. Your body is the best Dr. of all. I am 48 yrs old and am starting to feel my age again. Before this THR I had more restrictions and made alot of excuses for not be able to do things. But i must admit I never took any pain medication during this time. My stomach would not tolerate it..not even tylenol. After surgery I took 5 Darvets the entire time, and only because I had some muscle spasms at night. All and all if this is the worst thing HE gives me to deal with I will be very happy...Go for it you are to young to have such misery......i will be happy to e-mail you my address is k_stricker@hotmail.com GOOD LUCK !!
