Hi Brenda. I have had my hip fused for 8 years...i have no pain, it is good. They had to do it when i was 11 because i had congenital displasia and there were no other options. The only bad things are that you can have back trouble as all the movement from you hip goes through your back, which can cause pain, you have to look after your back. The thing that you will most need to do, and you can trust me on this one, is to learn how to adapt. things like tying up your shoelace, putting clothes on, sitting in a chair, all that kind of stuff need to be revised, a find that putting my leg up behind me helps when putting on a sock. Don't despair though, humans are very adaptable, i do martial arts and play cricket, its all good. All the best Kate Dirtie@orcon.net.nz
