In Feb. ,00 I Was daignosed with bilateral avascular necrosis due to alcohol. 9-19-00 i had bilateral core decompression. The immediate pain following surgery was comparible to being hit by a truck. Ortho. Doc. Rubash, MGH Boston. Rt hip stage 4, probably facing THR, Left Stage 3 ??? Told to stay off, (bed to Wheelchair 4-6 weeks) crutches for 4-6 months, 12months re-evaluate. After two weeks the pain is bearable. Rubash wouldn't touch me until sobriety had been achieved. AA helps
