I am 42 years old and suffer from displaysia of the right hip. I'm scheduled to have a total hip replacement in mid-November. I've been working out for the past 8 years with the Callanetics program (Callan Pinkney's version of basic yoga and some ballet barre exercises) and am wondering how much of this I'll be able to do after the surgery. I keep reading about cautions regarding pulling the knees into the chest, but is this a lifetime restriction or just temporary? Not being able to pull one's knees into the chest really eliminates a lot of basic stretching. I'd appreciate hearing about anyone else's experiences with exercise after surgery. Thanks!
