I am a 24 yr. old female with AVN. So far it has only affected my right hip. I pray that to be the only joint it will affect. I started having pain in 1996. Had a Core Decompression in 1997. It really didn't help. I wasn't free of pain. It just bought me a couple of years before having a THR. I had the THR 2 weeks and 1 day ago. What they say is true, it does get better every day. Emotionally & mentally I have good and bad days. Thankfully, more good than bad. It was depressing to me at first because I an a young attractive female and having an ailment really brought me down. But I've gathered my scenses and realized that I am truely blessed. I would rather have to go through what I am than have to suffer more seroius ailments as almost half of the world does. Comparing situations helps me keep it in perspective. I came from the hospital using a walker. It slowed me down and I started using the crutches. My physical therapist took one of them away on Monday. Now I'm down to one crutch and I'm going to get a cane this weekend. I start outpatient PT next week. Progress is going really well and I am thankful for that. Doing the excercises and walking around the block once a day really helps with my strength. I hope and pray that things continue to go well. It's hard to keep the hip precautions sometimes. I always want to bend over and pick things up from the floor. I'm glad I found this site. It is wonderful to be able to communicate with people who are going through the same thing I am. Good luck and God Bless to everyone. Let's keep up the good work!
