Hi Tim, Scared is a common feeling. Be sure to find the best Dr. possible do some research...The age thing for this type surgery THR only last for about 15 yrs (hopefully)So eventually all of us younger ones under the age of probably 55-60 will need to have this redone. So delay as long as possibly, but keep intouch with your Dr. for updates. If you wait too long it can be worse. I was born w/hip displasia so I walked in pain for many many many years. The last two yrs severe pain. I am 48 now and 4 months post-op surgery. Now I can it was worth it I have no pain and I am getting back into the swing of life doing almost everything I did before surgery. There are some lifetime restricitons with THR your Dr. will explain. Well, I hope I have helped in some small way. You'll be fine, try not to worry. take care
