HEATHER, I HAD MY THR ON MAY 10, 2000. I WAS ABLE TO SIT UP THE NEXT DAY, AND WALKED WITH A WALKER IN THE MORNING, AND THAT AFTERNOON I WALKED WITH CRUTCHES IN THE ROOM AND TO THE DOOR. THE THIRD DAY I WALKED THE ENTIRE HALLWAY AND MADE A CIRCLE BACK TO MY ROOM. THE ONLY PAIN I HAD WAS INCISION PAIN, THE MINUTE MY FOOT TOUCHED THE FLOOR I KNEW THE JOINT PAIN WAS GONE. AMAZING!!! I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL 5 DAYS. I WAS SO AFRAID THAT I WOULD BE A BURDEN ON MY FAMILY. THE FIRST FEW DAYS, I DID NEED ASSISTANCE USING THE BATHROOM AND BATHING, BUT EVERYDAY I GOT STRONGER AND STRONGER. MY PT WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH MY PROGRESS. I WAS WALKING WITH A CANE THE THIRD WEEK AFTER SURGERY. IF I PLANNED ON GOING VERY FAR, I STILL USED MY CRUTCHES. TWO WEEKS AFTER SURGERY I VISITED OPRY MILLS OUTLET IN NASHVILLE. BELIEVE ME, I WISH I HAD OF KNOWN THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THIS EASY. I FOUGHT THE PAIN FOR 16 MONTHS, AND EVEN HAD AN ARTHROSCOPE OF THE HIP 5 MONTHS BEFORE THR. THIS MADE THINGS WORSE. I WAS ON CRUTCHES 5.5 MONTHS, AND WAS READY FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE. I HAD A GREAT DOCTOR. I DO BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED TO ASK QUESTIONS, AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR DOCTOR. JUST ONE VISIT, AND I KNEW I WAS READY TO DO THIS. YOU WILL DO FINE! EVE
