Hi Enrique,

Don't know if mine is a "short" stem or not; or if it is Thomson. Never was told the name of my prosthesis type. (I'll ask my orthopedist on my next visit.) From the X-rays (and my own discomfort!!) stem doesn't seem particularly short, extends at least halfway down the length of femur.

So,the "windshield wiper" stem motion you mentioned is the cause of your "snapping"? Was your stem originally cemented or uncemented (like mine)? Hopefully, not enough grinding is taking place to necessitate revision surgery anytime in the foreseeable future.

Good luck with coping with the snapping sensation; hope you can continue to manage on the Celebrex (or other medications). And maintain your biking and a reasonably active lifestyle!
