I had almost exactly the same experience with knee pain for many years. One surgeon wanted operate on my knee, but I kept searching and finally learned that it was my hip that was causing the knee and groin pain.

I had my surgery on December 18th. I'm close to you in age, although, otherwise, in excellent health.

The surgery was so much easier than I had expected. The first two days were painful but by the third day I was much better and each day since then I've improved. I have almost no pain now except when I do some of my exercises.

I've almost graduated to a cane from the walker and find that I'm able to do more and more as I approach week three.

You will need help at home bathing, doing laundry, and with meal preparation.

I hope that you do well and that I've helped to encourage you. I plan to have my second hip done just as soon as the doctor permits, so I really mean what I've said.

Lots of luck!
