Hello Kerri. I read the article you posted. I too was told I had AVN (right hip) when I was 29 (and pregnant at the time) and that I would eventually have to have a hip replacement. That was 7 years ago and since then discovered that it also affected by left hip. I had a core decompression on the left hip that has hopefully prevented the disease from getting worse.

Now I think I have finally reach the point where I can't take any more and am ready to have the right hip replaced. Every Dr. I talk to advises to wait as long as I can "gut it out" before having the replacement because of my age. I am divorced with two children (17 and 5) and ready physically for the procedure but not sure how I will work out all of the details.

I suffer from AVN from taking Prednisone for Ulcerative Colitis (which I eventually had my colon removed to cure).

How is your husband? Has he had the surgery yet? How did he get AVN?

Take care and I hope everything turns out good for you and your family.
