I recently had a ganz osteotomy surgery which is similar to THP. The doctor said that after 72 hours of stitching up an incision, it should be sealed, as to not let in water. It was advised though, that I do not take a bath, or soak in water for long periods of time. As for going up stairs, I have found the easiest way to get around is to step up to the next step with your good leg, and use that to push you up to that step, so you would be stepping on every step with both feet. Be careful of wet ground though. Good luck.
