In Aug. 99, I fell and fractured my right hip. One month later, I was operated on. The femur bone fractured and the doctor placed two 4 1/2" screws in my hip to fix the problem. Everything was going okay with my recovery for the first 2 months when I started experiencing severe pain in the groin area of the right hip. The doctor diagnosed me with AVN as a result of the trauma from the fracture. I was also diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. I am 53. As time went on, I did a lot of research on the hip and AVN and stumbled on a website about prolotherapy. I found out that this treatment has been successfully used for hip/necrosis problems.

Since I have been putting up with the pain for well over a year, I thought it would be worth a shot if it works.

I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this treatment. ????

I was fortunate to find a doctor locally who is skilled in pain rehabilitation with prolotherapy and have since gone through 2 series of treatments. Since this is natural healing, it takes longer, but my feeling is that it is better than going through a total hip replacement. Some days, I have no pain, but I still experience pain when the weather is bad (like now).

Anyway, I just thought I would check to see if anyone has had any success with AVN and prolotherapy.
