I had the same problem with nerve damage after my hip surgery 5 years ago. Right after the surgery my foot was completely numb and I couldn't move it, but slowly the movement came back. But, as the nerve healed my foot got hypersensitive to touch and felt like it was burning. It was extremely painful. I started taking a drug called Nortriptilene (sp?) which is actually an antidepressant, but also blocks nerve impulses. Once I got the dosage high enough it really helped. Eventually, the hypersensitivity got better. The pain was actually a good sign that the nerve was healing, but don't just live with the pain. Ask your doctor. Good luck.
