I'll have to be honest with you. My foot never really went back to normal. I did PT for about 2 months and my motion was pretty much back to normal. No foot drop or anything and no trouble walking. I do still have a little bit of numbness in my big toe and the one next to it with a small bit of tingling, but not really any pain. I'm not sure how long it took for the painful burning to go away because I was on Nortriptilene for about a year and couldn't really tell when it stopped. When I finally weaned off the meds it was better. They say that nerves heal at about an inch a month, or something like that and I am very tall so I think it took me longer. Is your pain a burning, tingling kind of pain? Painful to touch? What I'm struggling with is pain in the ball of my foot when I walk. I think that maybe I have a neuroma (which is a growth on the nerve that can be caused by trauma to the nerve), but I'm not sure. Haven't been very aggresive about getting it diagnosed. If your doctor isn't being helpful perhaps you could consult with a neurologist or a foot specialist. Maybe they could give some better advice.
