Hello, I am so glad I found a site with people in the same boat as me.(unfortunate though)

I am 33 yrs old and am scheduled to have a THR at the end of March. I have days where I can barely walk and other days where I can walk about 1/4 mile before pain stops me. I do wake up quite often in pain. (2nd Hip displaysia) My life is definitely impacted by the pain.

I've seen many doctors and the verdict is the same: Live with it if you can otherwise THR. (it will not get any better only worse)

My concerns are not the surgery or the recovery, I am concerned that I am doomed to a life full of inactivity and multiple surgies.

I love to golf, workout, mountainbike, racquetball... (I think my racquetball career is over)

How limited are one's activities after THR?

Is there a type of replacement that is better for an active life? (Biomet?) My doctor uses a hybrid technique with metal and plastic and cement on the pevlis side.

How frequently do hip dislocations occur? I have had multiple patellar dislocations and it is extremely painful. (I learned how to pop it back in myself)

Finally, my doctor is Dr. Paul Pellicci in NY. Anyone got anything good or bad to say about him?

Thanks in advance for any responses.
