My doctor has told me the same thing. I'm waiting for my second replacement, the first being ten years old. He predicts that the second one will last only 8 years. However, I'm choosing to be more optimistic than that. Maybe by that time there will be newer types of replacements and ways to build up the lost bone. However, I have complete faith that my doctor is the best in my area, and he didn't know of any new techniques for building up lost bone. Hang in there and best of luck.
