In 1996 I had the l. knee replaced(TKA)@ Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. and the surgeon said the L. hip had severe DJD then. I had horrendous post pain-refused Rehab. to my regret-but recovered in time and knee is doing okay now. Pain travels downward from L. hip so I can't say if there is also knee related pain. (Had a DVT from scope on L.knee in 1994 too.) So L. hip is frozen except for forward movement w/ flare-up in hot, humid weather. Had a bad one in Dec. too but okay. now. Not taking any NSAIDS either. Doc. Rheum. both say it is time for the THA but when feeling better I procrastinate. Am 58 and on a cane. Tell to do it-THA(R)-or should I wait for new prostheses and Etc....
