I have been reading your totally hip newletters and have logged on to your Website since 1997. I like to read about those who have been through THR and absorb the information. I had numerous surgeries on both my hips when I was seven and never really forgot the experience. That was back in 1967. I have to admit I have been doing well on these thirty-five year old revisions. I do not have hip replacements but have a lot of reconstruction. The parts I have are my own except for the plates and screws. According to the doctors I have seen since then they say my surgeon was good for back then because my hips have lasted so long. Anyway, I was contemplating have hip surgery done again in 1998 because I was having a few problems but at the very last minute I changed my mind. I don't really know what happened except I couldn't go through with it. Maybe I decided my reasons were not good enough. I decided not to have the Thr because of two reasons, one was fear and the other was that after reading the stories of the totally hip people I realized I didn't have the pain and my life was not that out of wack. For now I am taking it one day at a time with only arthritis medication and an herb to help move me along. I would love to hear from others who have CDH (or is it CHD)and know what keeps them going. By the way I am an old member of this discussion group. It's been a long time. Take care everyone and never give up hope or faith in yourself. Tavis in eastern Canada!
