I decided to go with a periacetabular osteotomy. The majority of my pain is from hip dysplasia, the acetabulum specifically. The acetabular rim is almost resting of the femoral head. OUCH!! I found a surgeon in Boston who is going to cut the rim and move it so that it will cover the femoral head. Another OUCH! It's 5-7 days in hospital, two months of no weight bearing and then slowly increasing to full weight. Yes, it does sound like a lot to go through but I am told I will have full range of motion, no activity limits and should halt if not reverse the arthritis(because there will be new joint space). I'm nervous but very excited. Three weeks until surgery!!
