As I've posted before I underwent bilateral Birmingham hip replacement on 30th April 2001. I've recently had my 6 week post op review and am really pleased with my result, as is my surgeon. One of the bonuses was to take the TED stockings off and not have to put them back on!! My rehab programme has been increased and I continue to attend Hydrotherapy 3 times a week with home exercises every other day. I am able to use an exercise bike for 15 minutes twice a day, 3 times a week. I can sleep on either side or my stomach (can still feel sensitivity in the scars tho'). I can tie up shoelaces on boots (not the easiest task just yet - but hey I did achieve it!). Socks are a different matter - and it's winter here in Melbourne so they are a must. I discovered a little contraption that helps me get the sock over my toes - and thats all the help I need I can pull them up from there. My next review is at the end of July. My advice - follow the instructions of your surgeon and physio - it may be frustrating and seem to have limited results but perserverance pays off, at least it has for me. My best wishes to all.
