I am finding myself posting more on the Personal Hip Stories side of this web site. There are just not that many osteotomy patients on the discussion board #1. I had a periacetabular osteotomy on my right hip 4.5 months ago. I can tell you as each month goes by you see progress. I am walking without a cane or crutch at home only. I cheat sometimes if it's jumping out of the car to the dry cleaners. The original pain I had is gone. However, there remain some instances of soreness and stiffness especially after physical therapy or walking a lot. I use Motrin if it gets uncomfortable. It can take 6 months or more until one feels completely normal so don't lose hope. I have corresponded with many osteotomy patients through this web site and all are happy with the results. At 3.5 months I was using one crutch or cane all the time so you are doing really well. I am 37 and slowly healing. The most exciting part has been not feeling that old joint pain which was a constant part of my daily living before this operation. If you have any specific questions you would like to ask feel free to post a note. Best wishes to you.
