NO HISTORY OF ANY HIP PROBLEMS UNTIL INVOLED IN A CAR ACCENDENT 10/97.AFTER BEING VERY STIFF,PAIN DOWN MY GROIN, KNEE, LOWER BACK I WENT TO SEE A ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. AFTER A MRI HE TOLD ME I'M A CANIDATE FOR HIP REPLACEMENT SURGERY IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE!!BEING 48YRS OLD I LOOK AT HIM AS IF HE WERE NUTS.HE SAID THAT THE OSTEOARITHRITES THAT WAS THERE WAS SOME WHAT LYING DORMINT AND THAT THE ACCIDENT CREATED A EXTREME ACCERLATION OF GROWITH. I LIVED WITH THE PAIN TILL I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANY LONGER. AND OVER THAT TWO YEAR PERIOD I DEVELOPED THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE OTHERSIDE.I WANTED TO OPERATE BOTH SIDE AT ONCE AND GET IT OVER BUT MY SURGEON INSISTED IN DOING ONE SIDE AT A TIME.AND THAT I SHOULD DO THE SIDE THAT CAME FIRST. SO ON NOV.9 I HAD MY LEFT SIDE OPERATED,AND USED THE NEW METAL ON METAL DEVISE.4 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR THE OPERATION AND ANOTHER 6 IN THE HOSPITAL FOR REHAB(I REC0M.STAYING IN THE HOSPITAL FOR THE REHAB-IT GETS DONE THE RIGHT WAY).ITS BEEN 4 WEEKS NOW.THE GROIN AND KNEE PAIN ARE GONE, HOPEFULLY FOREVER I DO STILL HAVE PAIN BUT NOT LIKE BEFORE. I'M USING CRUTCHES NOW AND HOPEFULLY DOWN TO A CANE NEXT WEEK AND SO ON.I HOPE THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO PUT OFF DOING THE OTHERSIDE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND SO FAR SO GOOD. FOR THOSE OF YOU SUFFERING FROM THIS KIND OF INHUMANE PAIN THAT RESULTS IN HAVING NO QUALITY OF LIFE I STRONGLY RECOMEND THIS OPERATION. IF ANY ONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL E-MAIL ME AT THE ABOVE ADDRESS AND I WILL ANSWER THEM THE BEST I CAN.
