You are NOT too young! I had my first THP at age 37. I've had JRA since age 5 and AVN for many years. I'm scheduled to have the other hip done in about 10 days. I waited a long time to have hip no. 1 done, mainly because I was afraid of the surgery. To be sure, it's not pleasant, but the end result is wor it. The pain is gone and my range of motion is better than it ever was. Before the surgery, I had many of your symptoms... sciatic pain, low back pain, shooting pains down my leg and knee, ankle problems, etc. I urge you to get a second opinion. Don't let any doctor tell you nothing can be done, because it's not true! Good luck to you.
