When I was 7 years old I was diagnosed with Perthes Disease of the left hip. When they did two tendon release surgeries. All was fine until April of 1999. I was diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis and they did a left hip osteotomy. That wasn't successful and I just had a total hip replacement in November of 1999. I am a 23 year old woman that is a stay at home mom. Things have been quite hard since all the hip problems ,but I am coming along with the recovery of the THR. I am happy that I did decide to go ahead and have the replacement. They did a ceramic on ceramic and cementless. All is well, so far! I'm interested to hear from others. And, I know that I looked alot of things up when I was anticipating my surgery. I didn't see alot from younger people so I wanted to share my story with others. And to let them know that young people can and will survive with a total hip replacement. My doctor's at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN foresee me living a full, and normal life again! Thank the Lord!!
