It will be two weeks Monday since I had my right hip replacement surgery. It's been a little rough up until now but I can definately see the "light at the end of the tunnel". The arthritic pain is gone and all I have left is the surgical pain. They have to cut through a lot of muscle tissue during the operation and what I feel now is the muscles healing and loosening. I think this is going to work very well as far as being pain free and having a better range of motion and more strength. I can't emphasize enough the importance of rehab. You must do your excersises and walking to have a speedy recovery. Doing the excersises is very painful but I do them religiously. I already have more range of motion in my hip than I did before the surgery. I can tell that all the pre surgical arthritic pain is gone, just by putting the 50% weight on my leg that I am supposed to. It is truly amazing. I am very excited about the upcoming summer and can't wait to get out on the golf course again. I am told that I should be able to play by May. For all of you thinking about having a hip replacement. DO IT. Just make sure you go to a reputable hospital and doctor. I went to New England Baptist Hospital in Boston and the experience was as good as it could have been. At 42 years old I felt like an old man. Now I feel rejuvenated!
