Hi Tim, I just read your posting and I must say, I pretty much know where you are coming from. I too was diagnosed with Legg Perthes. Unfortunatly I was 16 when the day of diagnoses came. I had surgery to round the ball and clean the socket and also setting the femur again. What fun that was. I was 20 yrs. old when I had that done and my Dr. said it would buy me some time. So here I am 13 years later and scheduled for THR in July. The time has come for me to get on with my life. The pain is getting unbearable some days so I decided that it is that time. I have two children and I want to enjoy doing activities with them like bike riding, walking, and just playing in the yard. These things that I cannot do anymore. So I made the decision to go for it. I am very nervous about the whole thing but I do know it is the right thing to do. A person can only take so much pain. Tim, I really enjoyed your article also. It is good to read things that you can relate to and know you are not alone. Good luck with your upcoming decisions. Brenda.F.
