Hi Linda,
Wow! What a story! I am in awe of anyone refusing drugs during and post-op surgery! What I wouldn't have given for your high pain threshold! I'm so glad to hear you are having such a swift recovery too. Good for you!!
I am 50 and had my THR on Feb. 17th and Dr. told me OK to get off crutches this past Friday (I had a cementless THR with only 30% weight bearing). I'm really looking forward to the PT to rebuild the muscles in my operated side. I also hope to be cane-free within next 2 weeks. Then hope to be on my bicycle most of the summer during my free time.
I wonder if perhaps you had a mini-incision procedure. I notice it is mentioned a few places on this site, and I had also found info on it that I posted on the discussion board. I hope this will become a popular technique as it appears safer, offers a quicker recover time, and has the bonus of a smaller scar!
