Denise, Thanks for your compliments on my story. I would certainly encourage you to ask your doctor about exercises. My surgeon told my husband that my hip was totally destroyed and he was surprised at my ability to have exercised. I used a Schwinn Spinner stationary bike and found the resistance of it really gave me a great workout - I was careful to set the seat height as not to stress my hip - making sure I didn't flex the hip. Of course upper body exercises never bothered the hip and I know those exercises were responsible for helping me after surgery in being able to walk with crutches for up to an hour. If you know a good physical therapist, pick his/her brains - they should give you the best fitness exercises taylored to your present capabilities. The very best of luck to you in your surgery!!
