Dear Doctor, I made an accident on 31st October,1998. Doctors in my country tried to fix prosthesis but failed. They have done girdle stone operation. Till now I cannot walk without crutch. But doctors told me that within three months I shall be able to walk without crutch. Apart from this after they have done the girdlestone operation my affected leg has been shortened by 2.5 inches(Apx). According to the doctors if I go for THR then I shall be able to walk without crutch. But some of the doctors are telling that if I go for cemented THR(Total hip replacement)it may lead to thrombosis. Some of the doctors are telling that non-cemented is the best. Other doctors are telling that as I am 57 years old so THR is very risky for me and there is possibility of infection and after the THR also I may have to move with the help of the crutch or stick. Under the above circumstances I pray before your goodself to give me a true picture regarding THR that whether after THR I shall be able to walk without stick. Whether there is any chance of thrombosis if I do the THR. Which THR is the best Cemented or non-cemented. Looking forward to your kind cooperation. With best regards, L.R.Khan Dhaka,Bangladesh
