I have justed been diagnosed with avascular necrosis. I'm 28 years old. I have had the steriod prednisone a couple of times since my teens for really bad sore throats. About a year ago I got out of bed and almost fell down because of hip pain left and right. Doctor thought I had a pinched nerve because it went away the next day. Around Christmas 99 my left hip started to hurt badly. Some days when I stood up I had to wait to walk because of the extreme pain. My right also had pain but very little. I had an MRI now I go to a surgeon on 5/22. I'm very worried about this because I can't stop working for weeks at a time. Does having AVN mean I will have to have a THR? Will I be down for a long time? Will I ever be back to normal, be able to run or jog? I hope to hear from somone who has been through this. My e-mail is Matt.Charavell@axom.com
