Allison; I would imagine that that Ganz surgery recovery would be the same as a THR. If you could hang on for a while, they are testing that new ceramic on ceramic hip that will last up to 50 years or longer!!! I wanted to get into a study group but I could not wait any longer, but if you take care of your new hip it could last 20+ years they say. But I would definately hold out for that new one. They have had excellent results in Europe and Canada. And they just approved the testing here in the US. Look into it you might qualify for a group, what would you have to loose if it did last 50+years. I am 6 weeks post-op from THR and the thought of having it done again in my lifetime makes me nervous. But I probably won't have a choice. But if there had been and way I could of waited I would of. I even contemplated waiting, I thought about it all night the night before my surgery. But the pain was too bad and I did it. Just something to think about. I am 48 and will be around 68 when I need a revision. And I will tell you that the first few days of this surgery was not good. But at week #2 I was doing just great. Take care. Vivian
