Strange, isn't it how the pain shows up in your knee and puts everyone off track. I had the same symptom - pain and sometimes a weakness in the knee area and the femurs were not even in their sockets! I guess I had been operating on muscles holding everything together for 23 yrs... The pain came about because the pelvic shelves the femurs were resting on started to wear down. Have you researched/discussed having your femurs smoothed and replaced in the sockets? Using your own bone will give you many more years of use compared to artificials. I had bilateral iliac osteotomies which lasted 25 yrs.
