Hi. I am a 33 year old male who had a ceramic/plastic hip fitted in March 1996. On Oct 27th I am to undergo hip resurfacing at the HCI in Glasgow. It really hit hard when AVN was diagnosed in my right hip almost 10 years ago, and doubly so when the the left went 6 years ago. I could get by without the resurfacing for another few years but thought why suffer the pain, stiffness and embarrassment of bad posture (and the problems that itself may bring). For anyone (and there are a lot) who has just been diagnosed at a young age it is difficult.....but I look at it as "at least it can be fixed". I'm looking forward to being able to do simple things without the pain.....like putting on shoes and socks. I suppose all I'm trying to say is don't suffer if you don't have to......bug the doc until he agrees to get something done. On a lighter note..... as a hippy I find that my passion for golf has become more of a challenge (in many ways) over the last 10 years so it put a huge smile on my face to still be standing after a four rounds in 2 days championship and an even bigger smile to be the winner. Power to the hippies.....if it's good enough for Jack Nicklaus then it's good enough for me.
