Hi, My story is I am 42yrs of age and had my first THR on the 16 July 1996 that was my left side, and my second THR on my right side 2 May 2000, I was scared both times (funny the second time as you'd think I know better)My surgery went extremely well, I lived in pain for three years before my first operation, I had a surgeon who said to me then at the age of 38 did I want quality of life now? or when I was 80, having two young boys I needed it now, So we went ahead with the first one as I said. My condition was bilateral so we knew then that I would have to go again. so we did this year.
The one thing that got me through was a brilliant surgeon who I trusted so much, and I felt extremely happy with him and his qualifications, he explained all the fores and against for the op espically being so young, and what my condition was. He also addvised me the life of the prosthesis and what to expect in the future.
What ever you decide the one advice I can give is trust you surgeon and ask as may questions as you can.
