Dear Kate, I know exactly what you are going through. I to went to several doctors just to be told I was to young. Your mother should also support you for not wanting to live with the pain. At this point enough is enough. I took anti inflammatories for years and I had to have stomach surgery for the damage the mdeicine does to your body . The THR is not so bad I have no arthritic pain but when the weather changes well that is when I use the cane the most. If you want to get other opinions I would highly suggest it for your sake. I went for 31 years in pain untill I found a Doctor to help me. Also the revisions or number of replacements are no longer a factor. The can replace the teflon insert in the ball socket when the hip wears out. I have had 2 replaced within 5 years . Thanks to my job. I know what you are going through and my prayers are with you. Don't ever give up seek another doctors opinion. Believe me you will not regret it. They do not have to live with the pain, limps, stares, unkind remarks we have have to live with. Ask your mom and doctor what the long tem use of the pain and anti inflammatories can do to you stomach and weigh the pro's and cons then. I hope this will be of some comfort to you and then decide what I have suggested and others like us have been through. Do not wait until more bone damage occurs from waiting because I did that and I had to have alot of reconstructive surgery and bone graphs to rebuild what time waiting took away., (bone grinding away my pelvic bone). Again my prayers are with you and keep in touch. I hope you get this.
