It has now been three weeks since I had the free vascularized fibular graft and I feel pretty good. I was able to walk without pain before this, but I did feel pain when I ran, and in the military you have to run. The doctor at Duke said that my bone was strong and that they normally don't catch AVN this early. Oh yeah, I am a 22 year old male who has been in the Army Reserves fror five years and in ROTC for three years. ROTC was cut short because of AVN. Anyways, doctor says there is 90% chance of recovery of my hip, and even a better chance when I have my right one done. Things are looking good right now. I still think that I will be able to resume my military activities in running with a 65 lb ruck on my back. That is my goal and it is what is keeping me going. If anyone has any questions about this procedure, there is a web site, I don't have it right now, but I can e-mail it to you as soon as I can get to my own computer. Bobby
